Our Long-Term Solution To Mosquito Control
= 360 degrees of control worldwide.

PUERTO RICO

SpringStar is currently working with the CDC in Puerto Rico, funded by 2 research grants from the NIH, to develop new mosquito control products. Aimed directly at the mosquitoes that transmit Zika, dengue, chikunguna, west Nile virus and yellow fever, the CDC-AGO trap is a simple, effective, and extensively tested mosquito control technology that could change the way communities control disease spreading mosquito populations.

To date, five years of field trials show an 85% reduction in these mosquito populations, and epidemiology studies show at least 50% reduction in disease transmission. SpringStar will be directing even larger field studies in the next two years and will be working with the local communities to help empower residents by using the 90+ program.

BIG ISLAND, HAWAII

The recent outbreak of dengue fever in Hawaii highlights the need for effective new weapons in the mosquito control arsenal. SpringStar donated 500 Trap-N-Kill traps to help the village of Miloli'i, as well as put boots on the ground to work with community groups, the health department, local and state government, and the civil defense to help the local community combat this devastating disease. This was critical in Hawaii, where the Department of Health is severely short staffed.

Using community contact and social media, there are now thousands of citizen vector activists in Hawaii. Our recent experience in Hawaii emphasized that community-level use of our mosquito traps led to very high engagement and a better public understanding of this aspect of mosquito control. Additionally, engaging communities in mosquito source reduction, trap setup, and monitoring efforts allowed vector management to focus on mosquito management strategies, not trap deployment.
