The SpringStar Fruit Fly Trap captures adult fruit flies, also known as vinegar flies. The trap works by capturing flying insects in search of food in your home. Fruit flies occur almost everywhere, and are attracted by human foods, especially over-ripe fruit, fermenting products or decaying fruits and vegetables. Flies lay eggs that hatch into larvae. In the summer, new flies emerge after 8 to 10 days. Trapping the flies, along with proper composting or disposal of wastes, will effectively reduce the numbers of flies present. Long term use of the SpringStar Fruit Fly Trap will reduce troubling infestations without the use of toxic chemicals. The Fruit Fly Trap is safe for use in food-handling areas. Dispose of traps when full or after 3 months.
